The oldest surviving form of folk dance of Tamil Nadu, this folk dance has been made popular in Chennai by Chennai Sangamam festival. This folk dance is meant for entertainment in which the dancers wear a dummy horse figure in which the dance fits by his/her waist.

The dancers act as King and the Queen and perform intricate dance steps wearing wooden shoes to sound like the hooves of the horse and holding swords in their hands. The dance is performed during village fairs and temple festivals.
